Gødland Online

BRAIN: Image Comics has Gødland #1 online for all to read. It is great. A good friend of ours sent us a link to read this on a forum
a month or two ago but now Image has it up. I've been meaning to hunt more of these down. Does this artist capture Jack Kirby's spirit or what!

Wallpapers

BRAIN: Both DC and Marvel have some great wallpapers at their sites. You may have to register with Marvel to get theirs.

More Alternate Covers

BRAINS: Well, I've posted all of them so far so I may as well keep going. Marvel Zombies #1 is going into a fourth printing and this cover pays homage to Incredible Hulk #1. Marvel.com also shows a cover for one called "Top Secret" that looks like Fantastic Four #1. What is that all about? I am getting way behind on these. They are pretty much sold out by the time I get to a comic shop. I think I'm screwed. I have #1 and 2. Maybe I'll wait for the trade.

Star Wars Read-Along Records

BRAIN: Remember Peter Pan and Power Records as a kid? I've posted two '80s Star Wars Read-Along Records from Buena Vista. Adventures in ABC and Colors and Shapes. These were probably aimed at kids from 4 to 7 so don't think you are going to hear anything too deep. Anthony Daniels is the only original actor to lend his voice.

The Movie Timeline

BRAIN: There has been a movie timeline started. It's pretty fun to look at. Here are a couple of important dates to remember...

1504 October 10: Predators arrive for their feasting ritual on xenomorphs and humans (Alien vs Predator)

1518 January 1: Glenfinnan, Scotland - Connor MacLeod born (Highlander)

1632 nr Astoria - One-eyed Willy trapped in a cave and draws a treasure map (The Goonies)

1765 A mysterious beast kills hundreds of people in south-west France (Brotherhood of the Wolf)

1796 Napoleon fights the Battle of Castaglioni (Time Bandits)

1805 Napoleon invades Austria, and is then kidnapped and taken to the future (Bill & Ted)

House of M....MMO

ZED: Marvel MMO coming to the xbox 360 ala City of Heroes!

SAN FRANCISCO - Microsoft Corp. said Thursday it won exclusive rights to develop and publish multiplayer online games starring Marvel Enterprises Inc.'s super heroes, including Spider-man, the X-men and the Hulk.

The deal covers massively multiplayer online (MMO) game titles developed for Microsoft's upcoming Xbox 360 gaming console and published by the software giant's game studio.

The deal is Marvel's first MMO pact. The first title is expected in 2008. "This is our one and only," Tim Rothwell, worldwide president of the Consumer Media Group at Marvel Enterprises, told Reuters, referring to the MMO pact.

BRAIN: SWEET! That just may be what gives me the little push to get a 360.

BRAIN: Happy 75th Bill.

Indy! Why Does The Floor Move?

BRAIN: More proof that Samual L. Jackson can't turn down a roll, except this time I can't tell if this is purposefully supposed to be funny, or it just comes off this way... I guess it doesn't matter. I'll be there! The movie is called Snakes On A Plane and it comes out in August. Here is a sneak peek.

Summary: Snakes on a Plane stars Samuel L. Jackson as an FBI agent who is escorting an eye witness on a flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles when a crimelord sets in motion the release of hundreds of deadly snakes on the commercial airplane in order to eliminate the witness before he can testify against him. The FBI agent must protect his witness while banding together with the pilot, frightened crew and passengers in a desperate attempt to survive.

Space Invader Wall Art

BRAIN: A company called Blik Surface Graphics sells some really cool space invader wall decals. Hmmm... I'll have to keep these in mind when we move.

Lock Your Doors Zed!

BRAIN: Looks like we have a sasquash in our back yard. Some dude in northern Minnesota shot footage of one in January. Why is it that when someone sees a bigfoot or a ufo, the only camera they have is one from the 1930's? He also did some sketches of it.

Fred Pounds Another Nail In The Coffin

BRAIN: Check out this great old commercial that has the Flintstons pimpin Winston cigs. I've knew that they had made this commercial but I figured that I would never see it.

Kaiju Big Battles Online

BRAIN: Forget the WWF! This is real wrestling entertainment. You can now watch some Kaiju Big Battles at Hasbro's site.

Artist Profile: Carlos Huante

ZED: Check out the art of Carlos Huante, an ILM artist like Ryan Church, excellent mutated creature digital drawings and paintings.

Bruce Campbell Talks Evil Dead Remake

BRAIN: Bruce Campbell was asked about a remake of the Evil Dead. This is what he had to say...

"We don't really talk about [another] sequel too much 'cause Sam is too busy right now. It would all be kinda moot. But I think we're gonna do a remake. It'll be a whole new story, though. It won't be with Ash. It'll be the evil book, and it'll affect a whole new group of people in a different situation. More like a reinvention. A lot of people, they got really crabby on the Internet when they first heard that type of stuff. But, we would never do anything to insult them. The trick is to take that premise - and we think it's a scary premise - and use some cool modern day FX… so we won't have green garden hoses in the shots. We wanna make a flat out, scary-ass, un-rated horror film."

A for V

ZED: V for Vendetta was awesome! In Britain in the very near future, under the hitleresque rule of the chairman played by John Hurt, a modern day Guy Fawkes makes decisive strikes against the government and those who "created" him. Without giving too much away, I will say I was very pleasantly surprised. Natalie Portman is great as the vehicle we use to discover some of the protagonist's inner secrets. It's based on the comic that came out a while ago by alan moore.

DVDs Out Tuesday

BRAIN: Season One of Batman Beyond and The Justice League are out tomorrow. Looking around the sale adds it looks like Best Buy has the best prices on them. $17.99 for Batman Beyond and $27.99 for The Justice League.

The Slanket

BRAIN: Another Why didn't I think of this? Ever been sitting on the couch with a blanket over you and you can't turn the channel? Or want to play some video games and keep your arms warm? Now you can with the slanket.

New Bond With New Bond Chicks

BRAIN: I dig the one on the right.

ZED: looks like he gets both...I would dig that.

Who Wants To Be A Superhero?

BRAIN: Applications are now being accepted for Stan Lee and The SciFi Channels's reality show Who Wants To Be A Superhero? All you’ll need is an original idea for a Superhero, a killer costume, and some real Superhero mojo. The winner gets immortilized in a comic. What do you say Zed? Think we can whip up some costumes for DragonFlier and Torq?

Ultimates 2 #12

BRAIN: Marvel has released this art from Brian Hitch for Ultimates 2 #12 available in June. They claim that Hitch will have every hero in the Ultimate Marvel Universe fighting to free the United States of America. I can't wait for this. Brian Hitch and Mark Miller will be sorely missed on this title.

Dreams Shattered

BRAIN: Last month we saw some pics from Toy Fair 2006 of Star Wars original trilogy characters illustrated in the fashion of Genndy Tartakovsky. Sometimes vendors slip and display things at conventions that haven't been announced yet. Both Zed and I were really hoping that this meant that there was going to be more Cartoon Network Star Wars cartoons in the same style as Clone Wars. It's pretty disappointing to find out that this is not the case. Gentle Giant, the maker of the maquettes, is just tooning out characters in that fashion because the original maquettes for Clone Wars sold so well. What a drag. I would give my left nut to have an original trilogy cartoon as cool as Clone Wars. If they can make a cartoon that cool out of the prequils story line, I can't imagine how cool it would be to see Han and Chewie in the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs... Oh well. These things still look great and I'm seriously considering the Princess Leia and R2 one. StarWars.com has the story.

xbox to ilife

ZED: Null River Software has a cool little shareware app that allows you to use a mac with the xbox 360 instead of a media center pc, it allows you to access your iphoto pics and itunes through the xbox 360 on your HDTV it's fifteen bucks and it's awesome, it will not allow you to customize playlists, you need to do that through itunes, but with one my powerbook running in the background I have instant access to all my tunes and pics! The 360 is becoming quite the hub of my entertainment setup, next I will acquire the logitech xbox harmony remote which will run everything with one click for dvd watching, tunes, game playing etc...I'm out of allowance, but that is coming next. Zed is very pleased.

A Year of Superman

BRAIN: Warner Brothers has a pretty cool trailer of the Superman franchise that ends with a look at Superman Returns. They are releasing a ton of Superman DVDs throughout the year and it gives dates for everything.

The Fantastic 4, Um, I Mean The Fantastic 2...

BRAIN: There is a one shot Fantastic Four coming out called A Death In The Family where they state that Sue Richards, The Invisible Woman, will die. And in fact, Joe Quesada in an interview with Newsarama said that actually 2 of the Fantastic Four will die, and stay dead... "Karl Kesel has created one of the best told in one FF stories in a very long time, and yes, unfortunately, there will be a death in the FF family and it is all in continuity. But here's some Joe Fridays breaking news that the solicits don't tell ya, and remember, you heard it here first: two of the FF die, not just one. Gone, goodbye, nevermore." I guess we'll see how long they stay dead. So many superheroes die and come back that it's not really shocking anymore.

Civil War Trailer - Not Great

BRAIN: Marvel has made a trailer for Civil War. Could be better. There is also an seven page excerpt in the new Wizard (#174) that actually helps explain events leading up to the event. The trailer looks like it was made by someone who had a 15 minute crash course in Flash.

SLiTHER

BRAIN: Looks like Michael Rooker may have another home run on his hands. Have you seen the newest trailer? OMG! This looks so wonderfully bad. I haven't been this excited for a movie in a long time. It also stars the captain from Firefly.

Artist Profile - Jack Davis

BRAIN: Jack Davis is one of the first artists I could recognize and still one of my favorites. You have seen his stuff all over the place; cards, comics, magazines, albums, movie posters and cartoons in Playboy and Esquire. I personally love his monster stuff. He seemed to be the go-to guy for many years if you need something creepy. Most kids in the 60's and 70's will recognize him from Mad Magazine. He also did many of the crazy Tales From The Crypt covers too. He's great and here is a very small sampling of his awesome work.
